Cheap or Chic?

If you’re a regular reader, I don’t have to tell you about my love affair with Twleve by Twleve…but sometimes I come across an item on their site that causes me to raise an eyebrow.  This dress jumped off the page at me (mostly because of the dramatic back) but I’m not quite sure if I like it.  I like the idea of it, but that skirted ruffle thing is totally throwing me off and its causing an Eva Longoria/SAG awards flashback!!

So instead of debating myself on this, I’m going to leave this one up to you… is this “Cheap or Chic”?

PS:  The belt is removeable in case that was a factor in your decision.

No, no, no… It’s looks 1980’s chic not totally wrong for now. Maybe if the top & ruffle wasn’t two tones… Maybe. :-)

I agree…the problem is with the ruffle. It might look better if the ruffle and the skirt were the same color.

I’m going with cheap. There’s no contrast in the textures. Looks like something from the 1980s, yes – something a mom would stay up all night making for her teen’s prom. Perhaps from the living room curtains?

But yes, could be easily remedied. Dramatic back is nice; color scheme and mono-material no good.

I think it looks totally cheap. It looks as though the back and armholes needs to be altered because it doesn’t fit right.
Two colors fine, three colors, especially in a block-like pattern, nope. It’d make even a beanpole look large.

Cheap. The way the back is constructed makes it look like granny underwear is peaking above the skirt. It’s just wrong all over the place.

I have to vote for cheap. Maybe if there was just the belt and no ruffle, or monochromatic. What really bothers me is that just a tiny bit of the top color is visible above the belt in the back. It should fall below the belt or many inches above it. Concept… good, execution… bad

This dress is poorly constructed and looks like it fits poorly.
A dress very simular is on sale at ASOS; it is all one color and while the back does not have a hole in the back it is a wonderfully and universally flattering scooped neckline.
It is called the Diane Kruger and is on sale for 26.34. The sizes are extremely limited.

I think it is totally chic!

I have to go for “lack of style”.

Forget about the ruffles, the skirt looks totally plain. :S

I think it is chic. This is a very classic design and still trendy enough with the color scheme. I love this.

In my opinion, this is ugly as hell! The colors make no sense and the whole concept looks like a 12 year old made it for homemaking class in middle school. Lol no offense to anyone that like it =)

yuck. yuck. yuck. This is cheap no doubt about it. The colors are all wrong together. Not even on a celebrity.
