I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the “ring” Beyonce had in mind when she penned her annoyingly infectious “Single Ladies” song…she was probably envisioning something of the Neil Lane or Harry Winston kind, but these are much more budget friendly and totally unique!
I saw these at an accessories trade show in NYC a few months ago at a very high-end designer’s booth and he was asking somewhere in the $100+ range…wholesale…for plastic!!!
But thankfully, Target has once again come to the rescue with this adorable acrylic set of twin “diamond” rings! They also come in Black/Ivory or Clear/Red!
When I first came across these little gizmos at Baker’s I had no idea what they were…were they a nifty way to add an extra inch to my too short stilettos or were they some kind of silicon cover to protect my heel from the elements???
Well, neither really. According to the website, the “High Heeler” helps increase the surface area on the base of the heel, thereby reducing the pressure on this area and preventing the heel of your shoe from sinking in to the grass or falling into sidewalk cracks. The inventors, Becca Brown and Monica Murphy came up with this idea after ruining one too many pairs of expensive heels!
As a former resident of NYC, I can’t tell you how many pairs of Louboutins have been ruined by a sidewalk crack and/or subway grates, so anything that helps protect my $700 investment is a winner in my book! Good job girls!!
Here’s the first part of a three part series that profiles Ms. Roitfield as she makes her way from the Haute Couture shows in Paris to New York Fashion week and then back to her fabulous life as Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue . It’s a must watch and I think I love her more and more with every minute of this piece…this woman is one of my style icons!
You can click here to see the entire series on CNN.
I’m headed home from Toronto and while it may look like Spring, it definitely doesn’t feel like Spring! It’s absolutely freezing here and I hear there’s snow in Philly…not the way I wanted to start the new season, but at least you have these adorable clutches from the new Felix Ray for Target collection to put you in the mindset for Spring…and Summer!
I think I bought one of the first bags Felix Ray ever made…it was a gold metal mesh monstrosity and I just had to have it…granted this was about 5 years ago and I was in a different style place! Anyway, that bag cost me a pretty penny, but their new collection for Target will be much more reasonably priced starting at $39.99 and IMO, much cuter. The totes are a little too preppy for my taste, but I think those clutches are a must buy…expcially the one with that fab coral detailing. The collection will be available in stores on March 29th, but I’m hearing they are rolling it out early in some stores so let me know if the bags have hit a Target near you!
I’ve been a fan of Etsy for a while, but mostly for non-fashion related things like home decor, crafts and jewelry. But as of late, I’ve been spending way too much time checking out new designers and shopping! I love the fact that most of the items you find are one-of-a-kind and truly unique so each week I’ll be doing an Etsy Spotlight where I profile one of the many talented designers I know you’ll want to learn more about.
This week’s spotlight is on Holly Stalder. This Portland based designer has some of the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen and I love her attention to the back of the dress. I think backs are super-sexy in a totally understated and classy way and her dresses really focus on this part of a woman’s body. And for all of you summer brides, I think her designs would be the perfect party dress for all of those special events you have surrounding the big day!
While her dresses might seem pricey (the one above is $175), she does offer items starting at $44 and remember that you’re getting something that’s handmade and that your local Nordstrom/Macy’s won’t ever carry. And I like the idea of helping fashion’s rising stars on their way to the top! This is just sampling of what you can find in her Etsy store, so check out the rest of her gorgeous collection here.
Just because you play with the boys doesn’t mean you have to look like one! Opt for a feminine, yet highly professional dress instead of your traditional suit next time you get dressed for work!
I always prefer to dresses over pants/suits/slacks, but I’ve noticed it’s been a real challenge to find professional yet stylish clothes that are affordable. If I had an unlimited budget, I could spend thousands on an uber-chic work wardrobe by Black Halo, Theory, and Tahari, but why would you??? I found all of these fabulous styles for under $50 and they’ll have you looking good both in and out of the boardroom!
Check out my latest “Runway to Reality” post on all the asymetircal trends we saw on the Fall 2009 runways for The Supermelon…a fantastic blog which showcases the best in travel, style, trends and fashion!
I was home in Dallas last week and I was doing my usual Nordstrom shopping trip with my Mom when I found yet another pair of L.A.M.B sandals that I totally went crazy for. These came in black and cognac and I think they might just be the perfect shoe for Spring!
The leather is slit all along the top of the foot and at the toe so it has this kind of funky, fringe effect that totally works for that whole boho-chic trend. As with most of Gwen’s shoes, these retailed for $355, but I was able to find them at my trusty favorite, Go Jane for only $21.00!
Go Jane offers this shoe in Black, Cognac, Silver and Gold so you have plenty of options to suit your style. I’m going to get the Cognac pair because I always feel like my legs look 10x longer in this shade, but if you want them, get them quickly…most sizes are already limited!
And if you’re stumped on what to wear them with, try pairing them with a short mini and some tights (just until the weather warms up) or with a frilly top to help add some edge to the overall softness of the look!
Thanks so much to everyone at FOX for the amazing opportunity and if you happen to live in D/FW, tune into FOX4 on May 7th…I’ll be back with more fashion tips and the Hottest Sandals for under $100!
And you can get those Abaete for Payless shoes right here!
I’m a total lip gloss junkie…I love having an excess of lip gloss in my make up bag, in my car, in my purse, etc! I usually don’t spend more than $5 at the drugstore for my gloss, but I can’t say that I’m not tempted. Stores like Sephora make it really hard to not splurge, espeically when they carry some of the the prettiest shades in super-cute pacakging like these!
My BFF turned me on to these Stila lip glazes a while ago when I was living in New York and I totall stole hers (sorrry Melis!) but I could never bring myself to buy a new one becuase of the hefty price tag. I loved the easy application along with the totally smooth (and not sticky) texture. Well I guess Sephora heard my pleas because they now offer this incredible set of Stila Lip Glazes for only $22! If you do the math, that comes to only $3.60 per gloss and you gotta love that!
Going green is the hottest color this Spring so put back that little black dress and reach for that green one instead. The dress is one of my favorite looks this season. It’s fun, bright and it definitely will make heads turn when walking down the street.
I love the idea of wearing any shade of green this year. This amazingly hot color has been seen everywhere and I can’t get enough of it! But, since it is such an eye-catching color, you never want to overdo it, so let it speak for itself. Here are some pointers…If you decide to wear a fierce green handbag, let that be the only thing green you have on. Remember, less is always more. Think of what it did for Ms. Angelina Jolie on the red carpet this year…those Emerald earrings were to die for!!!!
And for all those fashionistas out there, clothing is not the only thing going green. Check out your local drugstores for all the latest beauty products that have also gone green…and I’m not talking about the color! This Spring, it’s all about being natural so try out Almay Pure Blends make-up or Burt’s Bees skin collection…they’re two of my favorite gone green products!
By now most of you have heard that this will be LC’s last season on The Hills…
I thought I would be relieved when this day finally came, but I’m actually kind of sad. Lauren’s wining and incessant “I’m the victim” role used to drive me crazy, but now I really can’t imagine the show without her. And having to deal with fake Speidi drama and a whole half hour of Audrina looking at the sky might just feel unbearable without our trusty narrator.
I also have to admit that I will miss seeing Lauren’s outfits…and before all of you comment on how she has not right being a designer…I agree with you! But I do like seeing her laid-back Cali style on my TV every week and she always looks cute and chic, unlike her co-stars who look like every other silicon enhanced wanna-be that lives in La La land.
Here’s Lauren perfectly showing off just how to rock the BF blazer I posted about earlier this week…and if you couldn’t find one in your size, this one below from Charlotte Russe is also a great buy and you gotta love the 80’s-tastic rolled back cuffs!
I was really excited to see the shoes from MK and Ashley’s new shoe collection for The Row, especially when I heard they were developing the line with Steve Madden. Most of the prices at SM start off a little high, but they do have great sales so I was hoping to score a pair of the twin’s shoes for under $100.
Well, no such luck. According to WWD, the collection will sell for $195 to $500 and only at high-end stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus…no suburban malls for these mini-moguls and their 5″ heels!
From what I saw on WWD, the shoes are fantastic and I love the buttons running up the back of this shoe above…kind of reminds me of my wedding dress, if it had been black! But I don’t think their shoes are worth that kind of dough…would you pay this much for these shoes?
I love Forever 21’s “shop by outfit” option…it provides a great a visual for how to mix all of their seemingly un-mixable items and create a fabulous look! It’s a great resource for anyone that feels overwhelmed when presented with their vast selection of inventory and a great way to get inspired to try something new!
I came across this look today and kind of paused. There’s so many elements that I love about it, like the colors, the necklace, the layers and those shoes. Yet there’s so many that I kind of hate, but namely it’s the pants. Maybe I’m just missing something here??
