I’m usually pretty decisive about what I like when it comes to fashion, but every once in a while I like to seek out the opinions of others in our industry that I think have a fabulous sense of style and a great eye!
This week I got to chat with the ladies over at AKIRA and they told me inside info about what’s selling at their super cute online store as well as their real store in Chicago.
One thing we both agree on–leggings are here to stay! Whether you love them or hate them, they’re everywhere and since we’re in the season for boots, leggings are a great way to pull off the “tucked in” look withough having to fight with your jeans.
Their denim leggings are the #1 selling item on the site and given the price and quality (I’ve been living in mine!) I can understand why. These are only $14 and they’re about 100 times nicer than other styles I’ve seen at this price!
Rounding out their top sellers–a fur vest (duh!) and the cutest demin mini skirt that looks nothing like a denim mini skirt! What I love about the vest is that it actually looks like real fur…none of that mangled, hard to the touch faux stuff here. It’s soft, stylish and you’ll want to wear it with everything!

Okay. LOVE these. And I love to wear tunic-length tops to hide my unflattering parts (ha!), but honestly, I hate jeans. It’s awful, I know. I can never find a pair that fit, they get too stretched out, they dig into my belly, they don’t go into my boots “cleanly” enough. I could go on forever and ever.
So jeggings (so fun!) would work so perfectly with a cute tunic and a pair of boots or pumps! Yay!
I can see why you love the denim leggings. I have a cowl-neck merino wool dress in purple that would look terrific over these. I’d add a pair of lace-up leather booties and add some bangle bracelets.

Oh wow, what don’t I wear with leggings? I love how comfortable they are, so I would wear the denim leggings with a boyfriend tee and a chunky knit cardigan to keep in line with the coziness, along with a vintage statement necklace (I inherited a beautiful one with a moon and stars from my grandma) and heeled oxfords for style.
As for the Akira website, I’ve been coveting the Grommited Sleeve Sweater for a while now.
I am all about the Black Label Wave Pleat Strap dress! Quite sexy in brown.
I love my skinny jeans but sometimes I find it too constricting. I really want to try jeggings for a change. Browsing through the Akira online store I found these Chinese Laundry Hint Booties that look like the Louboutins I’ve been lusting after, and at a fraction of the price!
The blue Steve Madden boots are striking; if I had them, I’d wear them with everything, especially the denim leggings.

id wear these with a gray tank top underneth a fushia turtleneck, and other that a gray knee leanth button up cardigan with a gray tie at the waist for shape. to axcesorize id pair chesnut suade ankle boots (no uggs for me lol), a knit hat, and a tangle of silver necklaces with a black bow on the side as an axcent.

These jeggings are awesome! They’re perfect for going out (I like to wear them with a tunic top to cover my booty). If I’m going out for a night on the town I like to wear them with a cute (tunic-length) blouse, topped by some hot pumps (like the Sam Edelman Nydia pumps on Akira) and a denim/leather jacket to give it some edge! If I’m wearing them during the daytime, I would pair them with a comfy pair of boots and a boho tunic top.
They’re so versatile! You can’t go wrong with the price.
Since the jean leginngs are like skinny jeans I would wear them with an off the shoulder sweater and my fave brown ankle boots with a hobo/slouchy bag.
I would wear the jeggings with a plain oversized sweater, flat knee boots, and maybe some layered necklaces.

I am a little late on the trend but since leggings are here to stay I have decided to try them out and just bought my first pair the other day. I am looking forward to wearing them with long loose fitting tees and big chunky knit sweaters with my favourite black slouchy boots! Or dressing them up with a tunic top and cute pair of pumps!

While I originally come from a warm climate where leggings aren’t always the most appropriate for the weather, with my move to a colder climate, I find myself wearing leggings all the time. So comfortable, relatively inexpensive and fun!
I initally hated denim leggings bc the first thing I would think of would be those “mom” jeans with the elastic waist band. Well, obviously I was wrong. These are tooo amazing looking to pass up! I seriously hope I win!

I would wear these jeggings with a plain white loose tee, a black leather jacket, and some cool flat black boots! For accesories I would add a couple of layers of neckleces.
I have the cutest black cotton dress I would wear with these jeggings! I would also add a cardigan sweater and several strands of silver necklaces (including pearls) and top it all off with one of my handmade Ravishing Rosette Pins and a pair of black riding boots!

I have to admit that I love me some sequins. That said the Sequin Dancing Blazer is my fav item on Akira. Though I know it’s majorly trendy, I can’t help but look at it, gasp, and want it, want it, want it.
Love these jeggings! I really didn’t get the appeal until I saw these and the way they are put together. Very Cute! Also love the fur vest, another item I have yet to add to my wardrobe. First time checking out the site, very cute clothes.
I would love a pair of denim leggings because they seem much comfier than skinny jeans but achieve the same super sexy look! I would style mine with tall, knee-high slim-cut black boots with buckles going up the sides. To balance out the toughness of the outfit, I would add a casual gray or black t-shirt and a feminine, bum-skimming white sweater wrap on top. My style inspiration is none other than Beyonce, the queen of glam. Also my favorite item has to be the Akira Black Label Sequin Slice Dress- OMG, totally perfect for New Years Eve with some gold heels. And for $66 that’s not bad.
As for the jeggings I think would wear them tucked into my Charlotte Russe above the knee boots, a simple tank and either my moto jacket or boyfriend blazer.

Yes! Leggins are here to stay! I must confess I just started my addiction with leggins and I absolutely prefer them any day over skinny jeans. Why? Well, simply because skinny jeans don’t hug my curves as well as these do and they do not feel baggy at the end of the day. I agree with you and leggins go perfectly with boots, I am wearing mine right now with my suede thigh high boots, white cami and a sharp shoulder black blazer…. As a mom of an infant, I could live in leggings. I would wear this adorable denim pair with a white button down shirt, a cascade open cardigan, a skinny belt at the waist, and my knee-length black boots — (of course this is a look for a night out or even a holiday party, not one to wear when playing with the little one).
I think leggings are cute and versatile, but the denim ones add a hint of sex appeal. I love them!

Leggings are as comfy as sweatpants (or more-so), and so much cuter!
I would pair these with my dark brown leather boots (with just enough of a ‘lil heel), and my oversized v-neck sweater (its cashmere in a sweet cream color.) And I can’t forget a long necklace and simple stud earrings to polish the look off. Comfortable, but so put-together.
I would give the denim leggings to my 23 year old daughter because no 46 year old fat lady should ever wear leggings!

Finding cute, classy leggings is always hard. These denim ones look really nice and would go with just about everything in my closet. I have two huge scars across my hip and stomach and it makes wearing skinngy jeans really hard. These leggings would be the perfect piece to help me still feel trendy yet comfortable!!

I am obsessed with these leggings. You can wear them to class, wear them out, they are so frickin adorable. And incredibly affordable too…my girlfriends have pairs that cost them over $200 but I like these better.
